Ingredients
- Qi zi Chinese wolfberries or goji berries
- Yu zhu Polygonatum odoratum
- Bei qi Astragalus propinquus
- Dang gui Angelica sinensis
- Red dates Chinese dates or red jujube
- Dang shen Codonopsitis Pilosulae
- Huai shan Dioscoreae Oppositae
- 1-2 L of water
- 1 free range organic chicken, cleaned
- salt to taste
- Optional: You can add shiitake mushrooms onions, carrots, potatoes, pumpkin, squash, or beets

Instructions
- For the chicken: trim any excess skin and fat and rinse (You can cut the chicken into smaller portions if it does not fit into your pot).
- Clean all herbs (1 handful of each herb) thoroughly and drain, set aside.
- In a clean stockpot pour in water and let it boil.
- When the water is a rolling boil, put the chicken and all the herbs into the pot. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1 to 2 hours (or you can use a slow cooker).
- Drink 1-2 bowls per day during the fall- winter transition (about 12 days).
