Walnut Spread


1 (15-oz.) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed

1/4 cup or water

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 cup lightly packed fresh basil leaves

¼ cup olive oil

2 Tbsp. lemon juice

¼ tsp. each salt and pepper


  1. In food processor, place all ingredients.
  2. Blend and add more liquid as needed to make a smooth mixture.
  3. Yields approximately 2 1/2 cups and store in refrigerator for 4-5 days.
  4. Serve with gluten free crackers or on slice of toast.
